Andrew Williams

CEO @ Fyne Labs

My name is Andrew Williams, and I live near Edinburgh, Scotland. I am a software engineer, open source contributor and entrepreneur.

Since graduating from Computer Science at Edinburgh University in 2003 I have been a software consultant for Java, iOS and Go projects. A company founder, technical director, CTO and operations officer. I’ve been part of the leadership teams at SonatypeHeads Up Development, Kotikan and Administrate. My current business is called FyneLabs where we are working to help support the Fyne.io project and support businesses that would like to build using it.

If working on software and business did not keep me busy enough I also work with many open source projects including EFL and Fyne graphical toolkits, the FyneDesk window manager and an IDE to support it’s development.

On top of computers I enjoy music, especially singing. I have spent time singing with the Edinburgh Festival Chorus and the RSNO Chorus as well as the National Youth Choir of Scotland, National Youth Choir of Great Britain and the Aberdeen Youth Choir.

Easily build cross platform graphical applications with Fyne

With the growing popularity of Go many people are asking how to build a solid GUI. It’s design for concurrency and portability makes it a great match for cross-platform development. This talk shows how the Fyne toolkit is designed to help make beautiful and idiomatic native apps simply, using pure Go.
