GoLab is organized by Develer, an Italian IT company with a Florentine DNA.
Develer has always been at the forefront of the technologies it uses and has invested in knowledge sharing since its early days.
It was the creator of the first Python association in Italy, the first Python conference, the first Go conference, the first Rust conference, and so on.
Develer's passion for innovation and commitment to fostering technical communities has shaped GoLab into the exceptional conference it is today.
With a rich history of pioneering events and a deep understanding of the industry, Develer continues to be a driving force behind GoLab, ensuring that participants have a remarkable experience at the forefront of technology.
The People Behind
GoLab was born in 2015 from an idea of Mena and Matteo, and ever since they've been working tirelessly with great passion and dedication to make GoLab a truly international event. From a small Italian Go study day in 2015, they've managed to bring some of the biggest international Go stars to Florence.
In 2017, Andy joined the team and immediately felt at home, becoming friends with many of the gophers. Then in 2019, one of GoLab's speakers, Aurélien, a passionate French Go contributor and gopher, became part of the organization.
There were some new additions to the team as well, such as Niccolò, who's part of the editorial team, Morgan, the enthusiastic videomaker and all-around jack-of-all-trades, and Ambra, their trusty travel assistant. Last but not least, Elisa joined the team as a content editor for the social media channels.
It's been an incredible journey so far!
2024 UPDATE: at the end of the 2023 edition Aurélien left our team because he was busier with other projects. We would like to wish him all the best hoping this farewell won't be a "goodbye" but "au revoir"!
With over a decade of experience at Develer, GoLab is like Mena's beloved creation.
After delving into the world of luxury and fashion for a few years, she ventured into the realm of IT and electronics — and discovered an environment that is both tranquil and intellectually stimulating.
She meticulously plans every detail of her events, from crafting marketing strategies to designing stylish t-shirts. You'll find her personal touch in the appreciated badges, as well as in the whimsical characters of Goffredo and Godiva.
Programming has been a passion since the days of his first computer, a 386DX-40 (in economics, it was in a cardboard box).
He started by editing gorilla.bas
, then he switched from Visual Basic, PHP, and Java to get to Python. He is now on an R&D team working on optimization algorithms.
Finding patterns and beautiful architectures in the software remains his passion, and also experimenting with new languages (Rust and Elm currently).
He is interested in many things.
He goes around, he sees people, he moves, he knows, he does things.
He is a smooth blend of passion and art, computer technician and video maker, with a background as an actor and singer.
He usually says that life is a heartbeat, you have to experience as many things as possible.
After working as a travel agent and then as a saleswoman in an embroidery factory, Ambra found in Develer a working environment in which she could grow and improve, taking advantage of her old skills while acquiring new ones every day.
Always curious and searching for inspiration, she loves good music and tv shows as much as the smell of books and the camera shutter sound.
